HCHS foursome honored

ELIZABETH CITY – The Northeastern Coastal Conference has released members of the All-Conference Baseball Team.

Among those honored was Hertford County High School’s Brandon Warren, who was chosen as Player of the Year. Warren, a junior pitcher for the Bears, hit .582 during the season including eight homeruns and 41 RBIs.

He also posted a 9-2 record as a pitcher with a 2.30 Earned Run Average. He led the state with 131 strikeouts.

Joining Warren on the All-Northeastern Coastal Conference Team from Hertford County were Daniel Merritt, Marvin Harrell and Mitchell Godwin.

Locally, Bertie High School’s Bryce Cullipher was also named to the All-League team.

The Coach of the Year was Edenton’s Justin Roberson.

The rest of the team was comprised of:

Edenton – Austin Cooke, Nikoli Simenson, Nick Bunch;

Northeastern – Alden Lawrence, Frankie Cudequest;

First Flight – Jordan Rhodes, Brian Woolridge;

Currituck – Josh Vales, Brian Nicastro; and

Pasquotank – Tyler Bridges.
