MURFREESBORO — Law enforcement officers here have arrested two men suspected of prescription drug fraud and are on the lookout for a female wanted for the same crime in a separate incident.

On Tuesday, the Murfreesboro Police Department arrested Brent Emmett Harrington, 30, of Windsor, Va. and Joseph Salvatore Scullari III, 34, of Suffolk, Va. for allegedly trying to pass a phony prescription at CVS Pharmacy on Main Street.

In addition, warrants have been drawn for the arrest of Sharon Lee Misovec, 49, who allegedly tried to obtain a controlled substance with a fake prescription on Thursday, June 10 at the same store.

According to Police Chief Darrell Rowe, in that incident MPD dispatch was notified by CVS Pharmacy in which the caller alleged a fraudulent prescription for oxycodone and dilaudid, controlled substances, was attempted to be passed by a white female.

The suspect left by the time officers responded and never returned for the pills.

Rowe said Lt. Joe Burgess conducted an investigation in which he was able to identify the suspect as Misovec.

Rowe said Misovec’s whereabouts are unknown at this time.

“This suspect was entered into NCIC (National Crime Information Center) and warrants are on file in an attempt to locate her,” said Rowe.

Rowe said the warrants are for two counts of trafficking an opiate, two counts of prescription fraud/forgery, one count of attempted trafficking and one count of prescription forgery.

On Tuesday evening, Rowe said officers responded to CVS again in reference to a white male allegedly trying to pass a phony prescription. He added the prescription was from the same doctor’s office as the one Misovec submitted.

Harrington was charged with attempted trafficking opiates by possession and attempt to obtain a controlled substance by fraud and forgery. He was placed in the Hertford County Jail on a $300,000 bond.

Scullari was charged with conspiracy in attempt to traffick opiates by possession and conspiracy in attempt to obtain a controlled substance by forgery or fraud. He was placed in the Hertford County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

“I would like to make all pharmacies aware that this is tremendously growing crime,” he said.

Rowe noted the increase use of prescription drugs in illicit use as narcotics and in selling.

He commended the staff of CVS for their work as well as Burgess who was assisted by Officers Adam Benton and Chris Owens.
