AHOSKIE – Another week led to another group of successful games played under the direction of the Ahoskie Recreation Department.

Recent scores include:

Nucor – 8, Freeman Metal – 3

Nucor defeated Freeman Metal 8-3 in a Coach Pitch game May 26.

Nucor had five players go a perfect 2-for-2 on the evening. They included Cody Peterson, Jessica Futrell, Jack Jones, Blake Birdsong and Mandy Spence.

Birdsong and Spence also scored two runs each.

Peterson was recognized for his excellent play at first base.

Golden Skillet – 12, IFS – 1

Golden Skillet downed Integrated Family Services 12-1 in a Junior League game May 25.

Tyler Hoggard picked up the pitching victory, allowing just one run and two hits while striking out eight.

Brandon Terry led the offensive attack for Golden Skillet. He was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Hoggard helped his own cause by going 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs.

Bryan Merritt was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Matt Colorado was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Ray Horton was 1-for-2.

“I’m very proud of the whole team,” said Golden Skillet coach Benji Hoggard. “We hit the ball well tonight.”

Dylan Waterfield and Ryan Weaver led IFS as each was 1-for-3.

Freeman Realty – 9, Savin & Hill – 0

Freeman Realty scored three runs in the third and four more in the fourth to defeat Savin & Hill 9-0 in a Junior League game May 28.

Eric Ortiz was the winning pitcher, going two innings and striking out three. Ackerman Grace pitched three innings and struck out seven.

Alston Hurdle led Freeman Realty with a 2-for-2 night that included a double. Grace was 2-for-3 on the evening and Ortiz was 1-for-3. Evan Todd and Quincy Godwin also had hits.

Savin & Hill was led by Clay Barmer and Blake Outlaw, each of who was 1-for-2.

Home Life Care – 18, Sportrax – 1

Home Life Care had five players with multiple hits as they downed Sportrax 18-1 in a Little League game May 25.

Matthew Weaver led Home Life Care with a 4-for-4 performance that included a homerun while Tyler Jones was 3-for-4 and also had a homer.

Jarrett Harrell was 3-for-4 on the night while Michael Scott was 2-for-2 and had a pair of walks. Jelani Duck was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Chase Evans picked up the win for Home Life Care as he pitched two innings and struck out three.

Home Life Care – 6, Lions – 5

Home Life Care rallied from a 5-1 deficit to defeat Lion 6-5 in a Little League game May 28.

Lions jumped out to a 5-1 lead by scoring three runs in the first frame and two in the second, but Home Life Care scored one run each in the first, second, fifth and seventh inning and two in the fourth to secure the win.

Michael Scott was the winning pitcher. He went five innings and struck out 11.

Matthew Weaver, Jarrett Harrell, Michael Scott and Jelani Duck were the leading hitters for Home Life while DeAndre Beverly and Matt Castlow led Lions.

District Attorney’s Office – 8, Charlie West – 4

District’s Attorney’s Office scored four runs in the first and another four in the second to defeat Charlie West 8-4 in a Coach Pitch game May 26.

Alden Lassiter led the DA’s Office with a double and a single while David Basnight and Jonathan Ambrox had two singles each.

IFS – 12, Savin & Hill – 8

Integrated Family Services held off a challenge from Savin & Hill to win 12-8 in a Junior League game May 25.

IFS scored in every inning to secure the victory.

Dylan Waterfield tossed six innings for IFS while Weaver pitched the final inning. Waterfield had six strikeouts in the win.

Tavion Simmons, Waterfield, Weaver and Eric Nigarrd led IFS.

Matt Judge led Savin & Hill with a 2-for-3 night while Hunter Benton was 2-for-4. Blake Outlaw was 1-for-2 with a double and Tyler Anthony checked in at 1-for-3.
