SouthWest added a run in the sixth and another in the seventh, but the Falcons held on for the victory.

“It felt really good for the guys,” said veteran BHS skipper Randy Whitaker. “The top of our lineup hit the ball well and we also got a good pitching performance from Cody.

“Defensively, we bent some, but didn’t break,” he added. “We got ourselves out of some tight situations. In other games this year, we’ve had an early lead, but we got one late this time and didn’t let it get away.”

Hunter White led the Falcons offensively by going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a stolen base. Cody White was 2-for-4 with four runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base.

Simon Hoggard was 1-for-3 with a trio of runs scored and a stolen base while Holley checked in at 1-for-2 with an RBI.

The Falcons (2-21) hosted rival Hertford County High School yesterday (Wednesday) in the season finale. That game ended too late for press time.
