Reader’s Choice Award voting underway

Which restaurant cooks up the best hamburger, hot dog, fried chicken or pizza?

What about pork barbecue…whose labor of love around a pig cooker best translates into the best plate of finely minced pork?

Where do you go for Chinese food; shop for deli meats; or get your hair fashioned?

What financial entity operates the best bank; who has the number one grocery store…hardware store….clothing store?

These questions, and many more just like them, will be posed to the readers of the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald and Gates County Index as the two newspapers will sponsor the 2nd annual Reader’s Choice Award over the next few weeks.

The reader-interactive contest will rely on you to decide what business is tops in their respective lines of service. For two weeks, a full page ballot will appear in the newspapers. Readers are asked to cast their votes in each category and either mail the ballot to Reader’s Choice, c/o R-C News-Herald, PO Box 1325, Ahoskie, NC 27910 or drop it off at the office of Roanoke-Chowan Publications located at the intersection of Main Street and Catherine Creek Road in downtown Ahoskie.

The top two voter-getters in all categories will then be published on a new ballot that will be presented to the readers of the two newspapers. That ballot will be published over a two-week period and the votes will determine the winner in each category.

There is no limit on the number of times you can vote, but please turn in all ballots by the listed deadline.

Good luck to all the businesses that fit into the different categories.
