This isn’t Chicago and we don’t condone the “vote early and vote often” mantra.

It is important, however, that people in our region go out Tuesday and cast their vote if they have not already taken advantage of the one-stop voting method.

There are many local races that have taken shape in the May primary. There are actual contests for county commissioner, sheriff, clerk of court and state senator. Instead of having only person seeking those offices, there are choices.

We also have choices for the offices of United States Senator and United States Congressman. Not only do both incumbents have challengers of the opposition party, but both are meeting primary challenges within their own ranks.

You have the right to choose if you want to continue the representation you have received or if you’re ready for a wholesale change. That option is available because you can vote.

Whatever your party affiliation or your personal preferences, we urge you to take your civic duty seriously and go out and cast your ballot. If you have issues, be part of the solution instead of part of the problem. Go out and support the candidate of your choice by marking the box beside his or her name.
