M’boro man faces drug charges

MURFREESBORO — A man is facing drug charges after he allegedly tried to hide crack cocaine in his mouth.

On Wednesday, Randolph Williams, 57, of Gardner Road, was taken into custody by the Murfreesboro Police Department.

Williams was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a vehicle to transport cocaine, possession with the intention to sell and/or deliver cocaine and resisting arrest.

He was placed in the Hertford County Jail on a $21,000 secured bond.

According to Murfreesboro Police Chief Darrell Rowe, MPD Officer Adam Benton stopped Williams’ vehicle on Main Street.

“Upon investigation, Officer Benton discovered what he believed to be crack cocaine in Mr. Williams’ mouth,” said Rowe.

Benton was able to retrieve the crack cocaine and arrested Williams. Benton was assisted by Officer William Barmer.

Rowe praised Benton for his proactive work.
