Carlton Gene Matthews, Sr., 68, of Newsoms, Va. died Wednesday, March 10, 2010.
Born in Colerain, he was a retired farmer and a member of Barnes United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Parker Matthews; his son, Carlton Gene Matthews Jr. of Newsoms, Va.; two daughters, Gwen Matthews Johnson of Boykins, Va. and Debra Christine Matthews of The Plains, Va.; two sisters, Janice Riddick of Edenton and Rachel Conner of Aulander; two brothers, Robert
Matthews of Aulander and Jesse Matthews of Como; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 13 in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Va., with the Rev. Darwin Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.
