WINTON – Two dedicated employees were honored here Monday on the occasion of their retirement.

Wilda W. Liverman and Carolyn W. Harrell were honored by the Hertford County Board of Commissioners for combined 50-plus years of experience working for the citizens of the county.

Liverman, who retired January 25 as Hertford County Tax Collector, began her public service in August of 1979, working with both the Land Records Department and the Hertford County Tax office.

Harrell began work in the Hertford County Tax Collector’s Department in February of 1988 and remained in that office, rising to the position of Deputy Tax Collector before her retirement on January 25.

The Hertford County Commissioners unanimously adopted resolutions honoring both for their service.

In part, the resolution for each honored their work and their dedication to the people they served.

“During her term of service, the citizens of Hertford County have benefitted from her experience, ability and devotion to her work,” the resolution reads.

Hertford County Commission Chairman Johnnie R. Farmer congratulated both Liverman and Harrell on their retirement and wished them well.

“We thank you for your service to the citizens of Hertford County and wish you well in your retirement,” Farmer said.

“Feel free to come back and help out any time,” added Commissioner Curtis A. Freeman.

The resolution also added words of thanks on behalf of the board.

“…This Board of Commissioners hereby expresses its gratitude for her many years of diligent services,” it read.

After officially adopting the resolutions, Farmer, Freeman and Commissioners DuPont L. Davis, Howard J. Hunter III and William F. Mitchell Jr. presented a framed copy of the resolution to each retiree.
