JACKSON — Two teenagers are behind bars and facing several charges for a robbery that happened nearly a month ago.

According to Northampton County Sheriff Wardie Vincent, Richard Dustin Lassiter, 17, of Conway and D’Marcus Quonta Cofield, 18, of Potecasi have been arrested and charged each with three counts of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, seven counts of second degree kidnapping and two counts of first degree burglary.

The sheriff said the charges stem from the burglary and kidnapping that allegedly occurred December 28, 2009 at Potecasi Mobile Home Park.

Vincent said three or four suspects wearing black hoodies and masks entered a home at the park brandishing handguns and a shotgun. The residents of the home were forced to lie down on the floor and an undetermined amount of money was taken.

Both Lassiter and Cofield were arrested January 24 and were taken to the Northampton County Jail, each held under a $100,000 secured bond.

Vincent said his office is continuing the investigation and more arrests could be forthcoming.

He urged those with information to contact the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office at (252) 534-2611 or the Northampton County Crime Stoppers line at (252) 534-1110. All information will be kept confidential.
