MURFREESBORO – A trio of Murfreesboro residents along with a Northampton County man were arrested here Wednesday after a search warrant was served.

Acting upon information regarding the alleged sale of narcotics at a residence in town, Murfreesboro Police Chief Darrell Rowe reported that the warrant was served at 7:41 p.m. at 1310 New Street.

Rowe said his officers searched the home, discovering crack cocaine, marijuana and two firearms.

“There were several males, two females and several small children inside the residence at the time the search warrant was executed,” Chief Rowe said.

Arrested were:

Thornell Powell, 30, of 1310 New Street; charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a dwelling to sell cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. His bond was set at $40,000 secured.

Aaron Moore, 25, of Dusty Hill Road, Conway; charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $20,000 secured.

Jo’von Long, 24, of 1310 New Street; charged with misdemeanor child abuse. Her bond was $5,000 secured.

Chaka Long, no age given, of 1310 New Street; charged with misdemeanor child abuse. Her bond was set at $5,000 secured.

Chief Rowe said the drug raid was a result of work by Murfreesboro Police Lt. Joe Burgess as well as several MPD officers.

“This case, starting with the investigative portion until the arrests were made, was handled very professionally,” Rowe said. “We had received complaints from residents in the neighborhood about this particular residence and we took action based on those complaints. Hopefully these arrests will make the citizens in the surrounding neighborhoods feel more secure.”
