Catherine Murphy went to be with the Lord one year ago today. She was a loving and wonderful woman, one who made friends instantly and brought joy wherever she went.
She is survived by her only son, Duane; four grandchildren, Michael, Martin, Bridget and Duane; two great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grandnephews, as well as a great many close friends.
Catherine was born and raised in Astoria, NY, where she would become one of the first women business managers in America. She was a strong woman, yet at the same time, her family can never recall her getting angry or getting in an argument. She was a saint on earth.
Coming to Virginia because she was in a military family, Catherine would be as home in the South as she was in New York, and make as many friends. She would spend the final years of her life with her family in North Carolina. Even though she suffered for several months before she went to be with the Lord, her passing still took her family by surprise.
Catherine left a great many loving family and friends who miss her as much today as one year ago. God Bless you. We love you. xxxooo
