Bert Capehart Willis Jr., 66, of Avoca Farm Road, Merry Hill, died Friday, January 8, 2010.
Born in Chowan County, he was a master gardener and owner of Bert’s Landscaping, retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company and was presently the Head of Security at Scotch Hall Preserve. Willis was a member of Merry Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He also served in the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Harden Willis; a daughter, Allison W. Morris; a son, Jeffery Willis; two sisters, Millie Bunch and Miriam Hughes, both of Merry Hill; a brother, Thomas Willis of Fuquay Varina; two grandchildren.
A funeral was held Sunday, Jan. 10 at Merry Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Marcus Daly. Burial followed in Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor.
