Edith Parker Vinson, age 89, died January 8, 2010 at Sentara Nursing Center in Chesapeake, Va.
A native of Hertford County, Mrs. Vinson and her late husband, Melvin H. Vinson Sr., were long-time residents of Murfreesboro. She was a member of Murfreesboro Baptist Church.
A daughter of the late Eugene Parker and Sallie Holloman Parker Jenkins, Mrs. Vinson was preceded in death by a sister and brother, Etta Parker Dilday and Thomas Parker.
Mrs. Vinson is survived by two sons, Melvin H. Vinson Jr. (Carol) of Chesapeake, Va. and Gene P. Vinson (Henrietta) of Ahoskie; three grandchildren, Renee Garner (Douglas) of Chesapeake, Brent Vinson (Stacy) of Moyock and Parker Vinson of Raleigh; and three great grandchildren, Joshua High, Blake Vinson and Sydney Vinson.
Graveside services will be held, Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Murfreesboro Baptist Church or to an organization of one’s choice.
Arrangements are being handled by Massey Funeral Home in Jackson.
