Two face child sex charges

JACKSON — Two men from either side of Northampton County are facing child sex offense charges in separate cases.

According to Northampton County Sheriff Wardie P. Vincent, Dwight Fitzgerald Manley, 44, of Johnny Vann Road, Conway, and Dotavious La-Mons Adams, 22, of Berry Scott Trail, Garysburg, have both been arrested and charged with taking indecent liberties with a child.

Manley’s charge stems from a call received by the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office from Halifax Regional Hospital reporting the crime. Upon an investigation, Vincent said his deputies were able to arrest Manley last Wednesday.

Manley was taken to the Northampton County Jail where he was able to post his given $1,000 secured bond. Upon his first court appearance, his bond was increased to $20,000.

The case concerning Adams was reported to the sheriff’s office by the Department of Social Services. After an investigation, Vincent said Adams was arrested. The suspect was given an $8,000 secured bond. His first appearance in court was last Thursday.
