Sheriff probes suspicious death

GASTON – The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the suspicious death of what is possibly a 17-year-old male, Sheriff Wardie Vincent said late Monday afternoon.

The body was found Monday morning around 9:20 by a person the sheriff described as a friend.

Vincent said he is not at liberty to release names pending further investigation.

He said the body was discovered in the Furman Myrick Street area of Gaston.

Sources tell rrspin.com the victim sustained numerous stab wounds, possibly more than 60.
