AHOSKIE – Three Lady Rams scored in double digits as Ridgecroft School rolled past Ahoskie Christian School 68-11 here Friday evening.

Emily Cooke had 19 points to pace Ridgecroft while Miller Bryant added 15 and Hennie Larabee added 10. Brice Harrison (9) and Tayler Smith (8) nearly reached the double-digit mark as well.

“We had to pull up three junior varsity players because of injuries,” said second-year Lady Rams’ skipper Susan Oliver. “We ran the ball effectively and played good defense. I’m proud of the team.”

The second half was the best for the Lady Rams as they blew open a 28-10 halftime lead by outscoring Ahoskie 19-1 in the third quarter and 21-0 in the final period.

Cooke started the fourth quarter with a pair of free throws for Ridgecroft before Bryant buried a triple. Cooke then had back-to-back buckets for the Lady Rams as they raced to a 56-11 lead.

A pair of Smith free throws was followed by 10 straight points from Larabee as the Lady Rams rolled to the victory.

Ridgecroft jumped out to an early lead and held an 18-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led 28-10 at the half.

In addition to the top scorers, the Lady Rams also got four points from Sara Hackney and three from Mary-joe Harrell.

Dyani Hall led Ahoskie Christian with six points while Bridget Babb had five points.

The Lady Rams will be back in action tonight (Tuesday) when they host Pungo Christian Academy in the Tarheel Independent Conference opener for both clubs.
