Lawrence Academy Head Baseball Coach Robert Kravitz is to be commended for the quality job he has done during his years at the school.

Not only has the Warrior skipper been able to keep Lawrence playing at a high level – they have won two straight North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association state championships – he has also made it his mission to make sure his players continue their careers.

On page 1B of today’s edition of the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald is a story about four more Warriors who will fulfill their dreams of playing collegiate baseball come next fall. Chad Whitehead, Evan Holton, William Norrell and Cameron Peed are four of nine Lawrence players who have gone on to play college baseball.

It is commendable that Kravitz has sent his student-athletes on to National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I, II and III schools. It means that he is not just looking after his superstars, but about every player and what is in their own best interest.

There are many coaches in the area who have taken the time to work to find their players collegiate homes, but none who have done it better than Robert Kravitz. He has been an example of a coach who cares about his players and does what is best for them.

Whether or not any of those players moves on to play professional baseball, Kravitz has worked to help put those students in a position to earn a college degree and play baseball at the same time. He has given them all the tools to be successful in life. He deserves praise for that work.
