LASKER – Faith Christian School jumped out to an early lead and knocked off Northeast Academy 43-30 here Tuesday night.

The Lady Eagles rebounded from a 21-2 first quarter to make the contest competitive, but never were able to pull back even with the visitors.

Faith Christian led 10-0 before Northeast got on the board at the 3:20 mark of the first quarter courtesy of an Ashton Liverman hoop. Unfortunately for the home team, it was the only hoop of the period.

Brittany Bradshaw scored a minute later for the Lady Patriots to make it 12-2 and that was the final bucket of the first quarter.

Lacy Pfeiffer scored for Northeast to begin the second period, but Faith responded with a 6-0 run thanks to two hoops from Margus Powell and a Taylor Wallace bucket as the visiting team led 18-4.

Northeast, however, rallied back when Pfeiffer sandwiched a pair of hoops around a Liverman bucket to close within 18-10.

Faith then got a field goal and free throw from Shannon Fisher to take a 21-10 lead into the intermission.

Ivey Little started the third quarter with a bucket for Northeast and was followed by a Liverman hoop to close within 21-14.

Faith responded with a bucket from Wallace, but Northeast scored the next four points thanks to a hoop and a pair of free throws from Pfeiffer as they closed within 23-18.

Faith came right back getting back-to-back hoops from Ashley Weeks and a score from Erin Bolton to surge ahead 29-18.

Northeast scored three of the final five points, all from Pfeiffer, to close within 10 (31-21) heading into the final period.

Jennifer Sykes started the fourth quarter with a free throw for the Lady Eagles, but a Weeks hoop again pushed the deficit to double digits.

The teams alternated scoring over the next four minutes with Sykes hitting two hoops for Northeast and Liverman adding one, but the Eagles got no closer than nine points.

Faith then went on a 6-2 scoring run over the final two minutes to seal the victory.

Pfeiffer led the Lady Eagles with 13 points while Liverman added eight points and Sykes added seven. Little had two points.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action tonight (Thursday) when they travel to Terra Ceia Christian School to open their Tarheel Independent Conference season.
