Hunting mishap probe underway

WINDSOR – A hunting accident near here Monday has left one man in fair condition at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

According to North Carolina Wildlife Resource Sgt. Brad Stoop, the incident occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. Monday. Three people were hunting, according to Sgt. Stoop, and one man was shot.

Phillip Dilday was taken to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville after the incident and is still being treated for his injuries.

The names of the other two individuals at the accident were not made public.

“We expect to conclude the investigation today (Friday) or the first of next week,” Sgt. Stoop said. “At that time, we will present the evidence to the District Attorney.”
