Elsie Ray Jethro Toppin, 75, of Rocky Hock Road, Edenton died Monday, November 16, 2009 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A native of Chowan County, she was a retired fabric examiner with United Piece & Dye Works and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Garland Toppin; a daughter, Charlotte T. Nixon of Edenton; two sons, Ricky E. Toppin and Jeffery Dean Toppin, both of Edenton; two sisters, Ruby Copeland of Hertford and Evelyn Dail of Edenton; four brothers, Murray Jethro of Ahoskie, Melvin Jethro of Corapeake and Delvin Jethro and Phillip Jethro, both of Edenton; and six grandchildren.
A funeral was held Wednesday, Nov. 18 in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, Edenton, with the Rev. Randy Browder and the Rev. Donald Sawyer officiating. Burial followed in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
Friends may join the family at the home of her daughter, 3004 Rocky Hock Road, Edenton.
