Luther Edward Dilday, age 89 of Ahoskie, died Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Martin General Hospital.
He was born February 4, 1920 in Hertford County to the late Andrew Jesse Dilday and Mary Brinkley Dilday. He was the husband of the late Chrystal Felton Dilday.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of First Baptist Church of Ahoskie.
A Celebration of Life service was held on Monday, November 9, 2009 in the Ashley Memorial Chapel of Garrett-Jones Funeral Home. Burial followed in Ahoskie Cemetery. Rev. Anita Thompson will officiate.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Steven Edward Dilday and his wife, Jennifer Smith, of Grifton; a daughter Janice Dilday Martin of Ahoskie; a brother Howard Dilday of Murfreesboro; sisters Nancy Wheeler of Lasker and Mabel Umphlett of Murfreesboro; a granddaughter, Rebecca Dilday of Durham; and a grandson, James C. Martin III of Asheville.
