Pastor Overseer Mattie Lee Turner, 72, of Faison Street, Powellsville died October 17, 2009 at her residence.
A native of Macon, Ga., she was the Pastor of Jones Chapel Tabernacle Church of God in Christ Jesus in Ahoskie and Safice Church of God in Christ Jesus in Medford, NY. She was also self-employed with Mattco General Cleaning Service
Survivors include four sons, Milton Jones and Henry Clay Jones Jr., both of Long Island, NY, Bobby W. Jones of North Carolina and Tommy Lee Turner of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Juanita Elayne Thomas of Kansas City, Mo.; her mother, Mattie M. Smith of Macon, Ga.; two sisters, Laura Ann Peterson and Ann Rediford, both of Macon, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26 at Carl O. Dickerson Hall at Elks National Shrine in Winton with Chief Apostle Percy Cook officiating. Burial will take place in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmdale, NY
