Lawrence Academy sits 14-1 overall and 6-1 in the Tarheel Independent Conference.

The Lady Warriors defeated Northeast Academy 25-15, 25-21 and 25-16 last week to secure their third victory in their last four outings.

Lawrence was led by Ashtyn Mizelle who recorded 13 kills during the afternoon to go with seven aces and two digs. Melissa White was perfect 11-for-11 on her serve during the afternoon as well. She had three aces to go with four kills and 10 digs.

The win was the third in the last four contests. The only loss for Lawrence came against Ridgecroft School.

Before the loss to the Lady Rams, however, Lawrence defeated both Greenfield School and Rocky Mount Academy in non-conference outings.

The Lady Warriors survived a five-set thriller with Rocky Mount winning by a count of 23-25, 25-5, 29 – 27, 21-25 and 17-15.

“Our best serving was in the second game,” said Lawrence volleyball boss Dr. Ed Clouse. “Ashtyn and Casey both served 11 points in the game which lasted only three rotations.

“Rocky Mount battled to the end and got us to play on our heels due to their much-improved hitting,” he added. “Serving was the difference as we were only 90 percent with a total of 24 aces.”

Mizelle again led the attack with 16 aces in 31 service points. She added 15 kills and nine digs during the afternoon. Lyle had four kills, four blocks and four aces as well as 10 digs.
