AHOSKIE – Ridgecroft School scored a 9-0 victory over Hertford County High School here Monday afternoon.

The tennis victory was the fourth for the Lady Rams measured against just two losses.

Ridgecroft had four singles’ competitors who claimed their pro-set matches by spotless counts. They included top-seed Tayler Smith (over Bria Freeman), third-ranked Taylor Futrell (over Brittanie Pierce), fourth-seed Erin Riddick (over Yvonne Harris) and fifth-ranked Alex Riddick (over Tyler Christian).

Number two seed Caroline Bowman defeated HCHS number two Heaven Rushing by a count of 10-2 while sixth-ranked Katy Futrell knocked off Tierra Walton 10-2 to secure the sixth and final singles victory.

In doubles’ action, Smith and Bowman combined for a 10-5 victory over Freeman and Rushing in the battle of top seeds. Futrell and E. Riddick then knocked off Pierce and Courtney Malone by a count of 10-0.

In the battle of third seeded doubles’, A. Riddick and Roxie Daniels scored a 10-5 victory over Harris and Christian.

The win boosted Ridgecroft to 4-2 as they head into Monday’s home match with Northeastern High School.
