Lady Rams top Lawrence

EDENTON – Ridgecroft School scored its third victory of the season here last Thursday.

The Lady Rams downed rival Lawrence Academy 7-2 to improve to 3-2 for the season. Ridgecroft won five singles matches and two of the doubles competitions.

Ridgecroft began their victory at the top where Tayler Smith knocked off Hallie Corbett in the battle of number one seeds. Smith won 8-2.

It continued at the number two slot when Caroline Bowman knocked off Hayden Thompson by a count of 8-5.

Ridgecroft also won the number three singles as Taylor Futrell knocked off McCaul Nelson 8-1 and fourth seed as Erin Riddick topped Sarah Meggison by the same count.

Bailey Nelson scored Lawrence’s solo singles victory as she defeated Alex Riddick at number five seed by a final of 8-5.

Ridgecroft’s Katie Futrell rolled to an 8-0 victory over Sarah Cowand in the battle of number six seeds.

In doubles action, Smith and Bowman combined to beat Corbett and Thompson by an 8-6 count.

The Lady Warriors bounced back in the number two doubles matchup as M. Nelson and B. Nelson scored a 9-7 victory over Futrell and E. Riddick.

A. Riddick and Roxie Daniels took the number three doubles matchup by a count of 8-3 over Meggison and Laura Bailey.

Ridgecroft improved to 3-2 heading into yesterday’s (Monday) match at Hertford County High School.
