Hilda Swank

Hilda Webb Swank, 86, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2009 following a long illness.
A Peninsula resident for over 60 years, she had been living in North Carolina for the past five years.
Mrs. Swank was a homemaker and liked to crochet, giving many of her pieces to her family. She also loved animals and will be fondly remembered by her family as a wonderful cook and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Swank was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William “Bill” Luther Swank, Jr., and two brothers, Ralph and Charlie Webb. She is survived by her son, Bill Swank and wife, Pat, of Ahoskie, NC, grandson, Bo Miller and wife, Sharon also of Ahoskie; three daughters, Dianne Johnson of Aulander, NC, Nancy Terry and Husband, Jim, of Waterford, CT, and Cathy Walling of Newport News, granddaughter, Cathie Earls and husband, Dale of Ahoskie. She is also survived by five brothers, Wallace Webb of Elm City, NC, Beaumont Webb of Smithfield, VA, William Webb of Newport News, Gene Webb of FL, and Foch Webb of Hampton; four sisters, Rose Cox of Surry, Mona Wright of Williamsburg, Roberta Garrison of Seaford, and Myra Berry of Hampton; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grand- children, and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Weymouth Funeral Home, Newport News, VA. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, VA. by Rev. Dale Seley. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.
