Eddie Samuel Sr., 96, of Sunbury died Monday, September 7, 2009 at Albemarle Hospital.
He was a native of Auburn, Ala.
Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine Jasper of Elizabeth City and Vera Goodman of Sunbury; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral was held on Friday, Sept. 11 at Hertford County Undertakers, Gates Chapel, in Sunbury with Rev. Samuel L. Buck Jr. officiating. Burial was in St. John AME Zion Church Cemetery.
Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, handled the arrangements.
