AHOSKIE – An Ahoskie woman is being held under a $100,000 secured bond following a stabbing here Monday night.

Lemesha Lashonda Arline, 25, of 621 North Railroad Street, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

According to Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh, Arline allegedly got into an argument with a male relative at a residence on North Railroad Street.

“Apparently, the argument led to the male striking Arline across the face,” Fitzhugh said. “After that, Arline allegedly got a knife and stabbed the male.”

The victim was taken, by private vehicle, to the Roanoke-Chowan Hospital Emergency Room. Once hospital staff learned the wounds were caused by a knife, they summoned the Ahoskie Police.

While investigating the case, APD officers learned that the suspect, who had left the residence following the stabbing, had returned. APD Lt. Jeanette Mathais went to the residence and placed Arline under arrest.

Meanwhile, the clothing worn by the victim upon entering the hospital was found to contain a controlled substance. Fitzhugh said charges were pending as a result of that discovery.
