Mrs. Shirley Byrum Grizzard, age 70, of US Hwy 158, Ahoskie, NC died Monday, September 7, 2009 at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC.
Mrs. Grizzard was a native of Bertie County and a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church. She was a retired beautician and homemaker. A lady of many talents, Shirley was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
Preceded in death by her father, George Byrum, mother Maggie Byrum, infant daughter, Donna Grizzard and a sister, Jeanette Vandiford.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert T. Grizzard, two daughters Rhonda Askew and her husband Butch, Lori “Sissy” Harrell and husband Dale, two grandchildren Lee smith and Tricia Bryant and her fiancé Steve Eure, one great grandchild Breanna, sisters Lennie Williams, Peggy White and husband Earl and her stepmother, Berna Dean Byrum. Ten nephews, five nieces, many great nieces and nephews and four step-sisters, Kay Harrell, Diane Revelle, Deborah Futrell and Elaine Johnson.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Mount Tabor Baptist Church with Rev. Wint Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro, NC.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Tabor Baptist Church.
