Northeast volleyball bests Faith

LASKER – Northeast Academy grabbed a five-set volleyball win over Faith Christian School here last week.

The Lady Eagles won 25-20, 25-20, 21-25, 26-28 and 16-14.

“We won the first two sets fairly easily, but we lost our steam in the third and the beginning of the fourth,” said Northeast Volleyball Coach Cap Pfeiffer. “In the fourth set we came back and with eight straight serves from Lacy (Pfeiffer). That momentum gave us the power to take the fifth set.”

Jennifer Sykes led the way for the Lady Eagles with eight aces, seven tips, four assists and one kill while Pfeiffer had nine aces, four assists, three kills and two digs.

Sarah Taylor Best had two aces, two assists, a kill and a tip while Kelly Sykes provided five kills, two aces and two tips.

Brittany Bolton had an ace, a tip and a dig while Dayna Barnes had one ace.

“The girls never gave up,” Pfeiffer said.

JV Action

In the junior varsity matchup, Faith Christian claimed a three-set win. They took the match by counts of 25-19, 17-25 and 25-17.

Lindsey Bryant led Northeast with six kills, five aces, three tips and a dig while Ashlee Flythe had three aces. Kelsey Lassiter added an ace and a dig.

Ashton Elias, Taylor King and Chelsea Rose had one ace each.

“Our young team is beginning to work together well,” Pfeiffer said.
