SEVERN — Representatives from Severn Peanut Company in Severn discovered a fire inside its peanut farmer stock warehouse around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, according to Sharon Long, Northampton County Health Department Public Information Officer.

At that time, Northampton County Emergency Management was notified along with North Carolina Emergency Management.

Currently, the fire is contained and the situation is under control; there is no immediate danger to the community. Methods of evacuation have been established, if the need arises; however, this is unlikely. No injuries have occurred.

Severn Fire Department, Public Health Regional Surveillance Team for Region 1, North Carolina Regional Response Team, and Industrial Fumigant Company of Winston-Salem are actively involved in the management of this incident.
