CHICAGO, Ill – Reports from mlb.com indicate that former Hertford County High School pitcher Dexter Carter was involved in a trade between the Chicago White Sox and the San Diego Padres.

Carter was one of four players swapped to San Diego in exchange for Padres’ ace Jake Peavy at the trade deadline Friday afternoon, according to the report. He was traded along with Aaron Poreda, Clayton Richard and Adam Russell.

Pitching in Class A for the White Sox at Kannapolis, Carter is 6-2 this season with a 3.13 ERA and 143 strikeouts in 19 starts.

The Jake Peavy trade from San Diego to Chicago was one of several major trades at the non-waiver trade deadline Friday afternoon.
