Reverend Lester Bazemore, 92, of Philadelphia, Pa., formerly of Lewiston, died on Saturday, July 18, 2009.
A native of Bertie County, in 1962, after relocating to Philadelphia, Pa., he became an associate minister of Childs Memorial Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was retired from Philadelphia Housing Authority.
Survivors include his wife, Versie Bazemore of Philadelphia, Pa.; a son, Lester Bazemore Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa.; three daughters, Virginia Sutton of Brown Mills, NJ, Annie Ree Bazemore of Vipron, Va. and Pearline Rooks of Lewiston; as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 25 at Childs Memorial Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pa. with Rev. Dale L. Crawley Sr. officiating. Burial followed in Northwood Cemetery in Philadelphia, Pa.
