WILSON – Wilson Post 13 grabbed an 8-0 win over Ahoskie Post 102 in a Senior American Legion baseball game here Tuesday.

In the top of the first inning, Travis Ellis reached on an error and Edward Joyner singled. The two advanced on an Aaron Hoggard groundout. Two strikeouts ended the threat.

Ahoskie threatened again in the top of the second.

Josh Morris doubled and went to third on a wild pitch. Dylan Ralph then drew a walk, but a fly out ended the inning with the game still knotted at zero.

Wilson scored their first run in the bottom of the third and then added another run in the fourth and a third in the fifth frame. Post 13 then scored once in the bottom of the seventh and four times in the bottom of the eighth to establish the final.

Dylan Ralph went four and one-third innings for Ahoskie while Brent Bowen pitched three and two-thirds.

Ahoskie had five hits during the contest with Ellis, Joyner, Morris, Hoggard and Chad Gurganus recording one each.

“The game was closer than the final score,” said Ahoskie coach David Ellis. “We couldn’t get a hit with runners on base. It was a well-played game.”

Ahoskie dropped to 4-15 with the loss and 2-6 in conference play.
