As of June 1, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) mobile service centers that make stops in two Roanoke-Chowan area towns are changing their days of operation.

According to DMV officials, the mobile service center that has visited Jackson on the second Tuesday of each month will now makes its monthly stop on the second Monday.

The service in Jackson will not change as DMV personnel manning the mobile unit will continue to offer vehicle registration and driver license services.

The DMV mobile unit will continue to park on North Church Street in Jackson during its Monday visits.

Also effective June 1, the DMV mobile service center will visit Windsor only on the first Tuesday of each month to offer vehicle registration and driver license services.

The mobile unit previously visited Windsor twice a month. It will continue to park behind the Windsor Municipal Building during its stopover.

DMV maintains four mobile service centers which travel to small towns and remote areas to deliver driver and vehicle services. DMV is re-scheduling mobile service center operations due to budget constraints.

DMV office addresses and hours of operation are available at www.ncdot.gov/dmv or by calling (919) 715-7000.
