Sandra Faye Eure Schwab, 63, of Rooks Road, Gates, died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Va.
A native of Portsmouth, Va., Mrs. Schwab was a homemaker.
She was a member of Eure Christian Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 337.
She volunteered in the school system; was a Cub Scout den mother and a member of the Gates County Rescue Squad Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, John Carroll Schwab; her mother, Faye Booth Eure of Portsmouth, VA; two sons, John Carroll “J.J.” Schwab of Gates and Paul Vernon Schwab of Greenville; one grandchild; two sisters, Nancy Eure Ward of Gates and Kim Eure Morris of Corapeake; and a brother, Vernon Ray “Butch” Eure of Portsmouth, VA.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27 in the Eure Christian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Gardner officiating.
The family will receive friends at home and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Gates County Volunteer Rescue Squad, 16 US Hwy. 158 East, Gates, NC 27937.
Swindell Funeral and Cremation Services, Hertford, is in charge of the arrangements.
