JACKSON – A head-on crash near here Thursday morning claimed the life of a Roanoke Rapids man.

Godwin Walcott lost his life during the 8:39 a.m. accident, according to a spokesperson with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol office in Roanoke Rapids.

Walcott was reportedly operating a 1990 Chevrolet west on US 158. The vehicle crossed the center line and struck a truck owned by Eagle Distributing of Rocky Mount. The identity and medical condition of that driver was unknown.

The accident occurred west of Jackson at Boon’s Mill.
