Lady Rams earn state bid

AHOSKIE – Ridgecroft School closed out their regular season with a shutout win over Lawrence Academy.

But, it won’t be the last game for the Lady Rams.

A day after defeating the Lady Warriors 10-0 in a non-conference soccer matchup, Ridgecroft earned the number 10 seed in the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association state tournament.

The Lady Rams will travel to fellow Coastal Plains Independent Conference rival Faith Christian School (9-5-3) during Friday’s first rounds.

Ridgecroft won Tuesday thanks to a pair of hat tricks – one each by Miller Bryant and Tori Sexton. Bryant also added a pair of assists.

IN addition to those goals, Brice Harrison scored twice for the Lady Rams while Alex Riddick and Nichole El’Khoury each scored once.

Senior sweeper Bardin Murray added one assist.

The Lady Rams join 12 others in the state tournament. That grouping is led by top –seed Wayne County Day School (15-1), followed by number two Kerr-Vance Academy (14-5-1), Greenfield School (5-4-4) and Community Christian School (12-2-1).

Rounding out the field are (#5) Elon School, (#6) Trinity School of Durham, (#7) Faith Christian, (#8) Statesville Christian, (#9) Crossroads Christian, (#11) Trinity Academy and (#12) Wayne Christian School.
