James Hayes, 81, of Williamsburg, VA died Thursday, April 2, 2009 at MCV Hospital, Richmond, VA.
A native of Bertie County, he was a member of Ashland Missionary Baptist Church.
He was landscaping supervisor for Anheuser-Busch.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Hayes of Williamsburg, VA; a son, Jerry Leary of Ahoskie; a daughter, Geraldine Cobb of Windsor; a brother, Stephen Hayes of Merry Hill; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 9 at Ashland Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie J. Best officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
