MURFREESBORO – Acting on a tip, Murfreesboro Police arrested Katherine M. Perkins of 312 Spring Avenue in Murfreesboro and seized 31.8 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of money about 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, according to Murfreesboro Police Chief Darrell Rowe.

“Lt. Joe Burgess received information that a subject was selling marijuana at a house at 312 Spring Avenue in Murfreesboro,” Chief Rowe said. “He and several other officers went to that address and knocked on the door. Katherine M. Perkins came to the door and spoke to the officers, who smelled a strong odor of marijuana from inside the house.”

“The officers initiated a search of the residence,” Chief Rowe continued, “and found 31.8 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and an amount of U.S. currency.”

Rowe said Perkins was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell and deliver, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of selling marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Perkins was taken to the Murfreesboro Police Department where she was placed on a $30,000 secured bond after appearing before Magistrate Doug Brinkley. She was then transported to the Hertford County Jail.

Assisting Lt. Burgess in the arrest, Chief Rowe said, were Capt. Chris Sumner, Sgt. Jamie Dilday, both of the Murfreesboro Police Department, and Hertford County Sheriff’s Deputy Dexter Hayes.

“I’d like to offer my thanks to those officers for their quick work and their safe work in making this arrest,” Chief Rowe said.
