AHOSKIE — An Ahoskie man was charged here Wednesday with two felony counts of statutory rape.

Ahoskie Police Detective Sgt. Stephen White reported that 28-year-old Ryan Bowser was arrested for the alleged sexual crimes. According to the Ahoskie Police report, Bowser was arrested without incident at his residence.

Bowser was processed at the Ahoskie Police Department and transported to the Hertford County Detention Center was he was jailed under a $90,000 bond.

He made his first court appearance on Friday. White said the arrest stemmed from a long investigation following a report of an alleged sexual assault.
