AHOSKIE – Ridgecroft School had little trouble Tuesday night.

The Rams scored 95 points and easily handled visiting Pungo Christian Academy by a final score of 95-34.

Four Rams were in double figures for the evening and all seven players scored as they cruised to the Tarheel Independent Conference win, keeping them in second place in the league behind Hobgood Academy.

The game started off fairly close with the Rams jumping out to a 5-1 lead only to see Pungo rally on a triple by Tyler Mann to close the gap to 5-4.

Ridgecroft responded with a hoop from Braxton Sumner, but a three-pointer off the hands of Zach Credle tied the game at 7-all.

The Raiders didn’t score for the next four and a half minutes, however, as Ridgecroft pulled away thanks to a 16-0 run. The spurt was highlighted by a pair of triples from Sumner as well as hoops from Ethan Phelps, Austin Britton and Patrick Dilday.

K.J. Armstrong stopped the barrage with a score that came with 13 seconds to play in the first quarter, but Britton responded for the Rams just seconds later as the Rams held a 27-9 lead after one quarter.

Despite scoring first in the second quarter on a pair of Mann free throws, the Raiders only managed those two points during the opening four minutes of play. Ridgecroft, meanwhile continued to pull away and claimed a 35-11 lead before PCA score again.

The Rams led by a 50-16 count at the intermission and held a 70-25 lead by the end of the third quarter.

Sumner was the leading scorer for Ridgecroft with 26 points while Britton added 24. Nathan Pearce (16), Patrick Dilday (11) and Michael Byrum (11) were all also in double figures.

Rounding out the scoring were Phelps (5) and Hanes Joyner (2).29
