Nancy Britton Edwards, 90 of the 1300 block of NC Hwy 461, died Monday, October 27, 2008, in Ahoskie.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Hertford County, a daughter of the late Charles Nathan and Lillie Teaster Britton. She was a member of St. John Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Judith Edwards Parker and her husband, Troy Lee Parker, Jr. of Ahoskie; and her son, Herman Oscar Edwards, Jr. and his wife, Brenda Fairless Edwards of Greenville, NC.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Charles Norfleet Edwards, Jr., Michael Scott Edwards, Mark Britton Edwards, Hope Parker Eure, Lori Parker Smith, Amy Edwards Powell, Cindy Edwards Asbell; six great grandchildren, and her daughter-in-law, Sarah Roberts Edwards.
Besides her husband, Herman Oscar Edwards, Nancy was predeceased by a son, Charles N. Edwards.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Garrett Funeral Home-Ashley Chapel, 205 NC Hwy 42 West, Ahoskie, with the Rev. Dr. Jesse J. Croom and Rev. Ronald McSwain, officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to St. John Baptist Church, 1644 NC Hwy 461, Ahoskie, NC, 27910, or to the Ahoskie Rescue Squad.
