$13 heist lands four behind bars

WINDSOR – An armed robbery in Windsor Monday night left four men facing charges.

According to Windsor Police Department Sgt. Ricky Morris, a man was walking down South King Street at which time someone he knew call him.

“Later as he was walking home, a gold car came by slow and that concerned him so he picked up the pace trying to make it home,” Sgt. Morris said.

The car allegedly turned near Roy’s Service Center and moments later three men approached the victim, pointed a gun to his head and took $13 in $1 bills and some change.

“He saw the gold car leave Roy’s and come towards the Windsor city limits,” Sgt. Morris said. “He then made a telephone call to the PD (Police Department) and (Windsor) Officer Everett Gamble stopped the car by the post office.”

Sgt. Morris joined Officer Gamble at the scene and helped recover a gun, $13 in $1 bills and a small amount of marijuana from the four men in the vehicle.

According to Sgt. Morris, the victim identified the suspects.

Charged in the armed robbery are:

Brandon Lucas, 18, of School Road in Windsor. He is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of stolen goods and simple possession of marijuana. Sgt. Morris reported Lucas was facing similar charges in Pasquotank County. He was placed in the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail under a $40,000 cash bond.

Jakese Wiggins, 19, of Jeff White Road in Merry Hill. Wiggins faces charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of stolen goods, simple possession of marijuana and going armed to the terror of the public. He was taken to the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail where he is under a $20,000 cash bond.

Roy Powell, 21, of U.S. 13 North in Windsor. He is also charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of stolen goods and simple possession of marijuana. He is in the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail under a $20,000 cash bond.

Calvin Peele Jr., 19, of J. Whitted Bond Avenue in Windsor. Peele faces the same charges as Powell and Wiggins. He was placed under a $10,000 cash bond and posted that bond.
