Faye V. Jones

WYTHEVILLE – Faye Vinson Jones, age 68, of Wytheville, passed away Monday, September 1, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Rennie Mae Edwards Vinson. She is survived by her husband,William R. Jones, of Wytheville; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert A. and Cecilia Jones, of Bristol, Bill and Debbie Jones, Russell V. and Chris Jones and John Paul and Renae Jones, all of Wytheville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeannette and Joe Parker, of Mufreesboro, NC and Bill and James Long of Roanoke Rapids, NC; grandchildren and spouses, Carmen and Brad Harper of Lynchburg, Trey and Stacey Jones, of Wytheville, Jamie Jones of Wytheville, Ashley Jones of Bristol, Allyson Jones of Wytheville and Elizabeth Jones, also of Wytheville; great-grandchild, Nathaniel B. Harper of Lynchburg; and special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Special friends, Judy Crigger of Wytheville and Andrea Caudill of Speedwell.

A Celebration of Life In memory of Faye Jones will be private for the family. Family will receive visitors Saturday, September 6, from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Long, 103 Harvest Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of South West Virginia. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pauline Whitaker Darden

AHOSKIE – Mrs. Pauline Whitaker Darden, age 85, of Ahoskie, NC died Tuesday, September 2, 2008.

Mrs. Darden was born, August 17, 1923, the daughter of the late John Will Whitaker and Della Williford Whitaker.  She was also predeceased by her husband, Rueben Boyce Darden Jr., whom she married October 12, 1940  and a granddaughter, Jessica Rene’Darden-Davenport.

 In her younger life she attended Connaritsa Baptist Church and later in life she was affiliated with South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church.

 Survivors include her children, Franklin Allen Darden and his wife Barbara, Reuben “Rudy” Boyce Darden and his wife Lou Ann, Laura Darden Newton and her husband Raymond, Ronald Edwin Darden and his wife Tracy.  Her sister, Ercell Truitt and her brothers, Frank Whitaker and Robert Earl Whitaker. Seven grandchildren, Jeffery Allen Darden, Gregory Scott Darden, Michelle Darden Simmonds, Anthony Vincent Darden, Kathryn Newton-Wynne, Amanda Darden Jorge, and Theresa Raven Darden.  Five great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held, Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008 at 4:00PM

at Hoggard Memorial Cemetery, Lewiston, NC, with Rev. Robert May officiating.

The family will receive friends, Thursday from 2:00 until 3:30 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC.

Fred M. Wilson

WINTON n Fred McRae “Sonny Boy” Wilson, 64, a native of Hertford County, died August 30, 2008 at his residence.

Wilson was a member of Jordan Grove Baptist Church, Winton, and a former truck driver with Sexton Logging Company.

Survivors include his wife, Roxanna Wilson of the home; a son, Shaundale Fennell of Winton; and two brothers, Frank Charity of Winton and Robert Lee Charity of Washington, D.C.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jordan Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. James Shearin. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Montae B. Branch

NORFOLK, Va. – Montae Antonio &uot;Moon&uot; &uot;Few Baby&uot; Branch, died August 30, 2008. Survivors include his mother, Cheryl Branch; two daughters, Makiah Branch and Montajah Branch; four brothers, Clayton Marquez Jr., Marcus Scott, Marquis Scott and Bobby Branch; sister, Mytika Branch; two grandmothers, Verna Branch Sanderlin and Audrey UpShur, both from Norfolk; two great- grandmothers, Fannie G. Sanderlin of Windsor and Essie Gaines of Norfolk; and a grandfather, Harry Whitley of Norfolk.

Heather Elizabeth Perry

SUFFOLK, Va. – Heather Elizabeth Perry, 22, a native of Suffolk, died August 31, 2008. She was a student at Tidewater Community College.

Survivors include her father, Jerry Milton Perry Jr. and stepmother Sharon J. Perry; mother, Lisa Taroli Myers and stepfather Michael Sean Myers, all of Suffolk; stepbrothers, Robert Justice Sr. and Travis Justice; maternal grandparents, Faye and Billy Jackson of Corapeake; maternal grandfather, Al Taroli of Suffolk; maternal stepgrandparents, Floyd and Della Myers; maternal great-grandmother, Mary Rollins of Corapeake; paternal grandmother, Betty Perry Ivey of Grayson County, VA; and paternal great-grandmother, Mary Estelle Perry of Suffolk.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Liberty Spring Christian Church by Pastor Allen Lancaster and Pastor Milton Lupton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Charles Glover Jr.

FAYETTEVILLE n Charles Romeo Glover Jr., 91, a native of Hernando, Miss., died August 30, 2008 at his home.

Glover was retired from Skycapp for American Airlines.

A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Friday at Sandhills State Veteran Cemetery. Burial will be in Spring Lake, NC. Cherry’s Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.

Alma Ruth Johnson Tripp

AULANDER – Alma Ruth Johnson Tripp, age 83, of Aulander, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital. She was born October 15, 1924 in Bertie County, daughter of the late William McKinley Johnson and Martha Brown Johnson. She was the wife of the late James Lawrence Tripp, Jr.

She was a homemaker and attended Ebenezer Assembly of God.

A Celebration of her life will be held Friday, September 5, 2008 at 3 PM at Garrett Funeral Home-Ashley Chapel, 205 NC Hwy 42 West, Ahoskie,NC, 27910. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jim Wells will officiate.

G. Winston Warren

MURFREESBORO n Gilbert Winston Warren, 67, of the 300 block of Holly Hill Road, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Warren was born in Hertford County, a son of the late Corrie Gilbert and Ola Futrell Warren.  He was a member of Meherrin Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Era.  Winston was a retired farmer.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, June Bridgers Warren; his daughters, Joanna Warren Dunn and her husband, David of Ahoskie, and Cynthia Warren “Cyndi” Chamblee and her husband, Chris, also of Ahoskie; his son G. W. “Chip” Warren, Jr. and his wife, Kristin of Windsor, NC; two sisters, Hilda Rountree of Charlotte, NC and Cloyce Parker of Murfreesboro, and a brother, Calvin Warren of Wilson.  He is also survived by five grandchildren, Chloe Winston Warren, D. E. “Finn” Dunn, V, Baron Christopher Chamblee, Sawyer Thomas Chamblee and Katherine Mae Chamblee.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2008, at Meherrin Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, with the Rev. Gerald Riggs and Rev. James Hester officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home, 205 NC Highway 42, West, Ahoskie, from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, and other times at the home.  Memorial donations may be made to the Robert E.
