WINDSOR – A Bertie County woman is facing 30 felony charges.

On Wednesday, Detective Sgt. Ed Pittman of the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sharon Holley Brown, 41, on 30 felony counts of obtaining property by false pretenses.

According to Det. Sgt. Pittman, a complaint was lodged with the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office in June in which a local home health agency believed a former employee was using the company’s bank account to pay for personal bills.

Upon investigation, Brown allegedly paid 19 personal bills to U.S. Cellular and 11 to Embarq from the company’s bank account.

Brown, of 204 Coniotte Road in Windsor, was arrested Wednesday and placed in the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail under a $30,000 secured bond. She had her first appearance Wednesday and faces a probable cause hearing September 4.
