WINTON – The field is getting crowded.

Thus far six people have filed to seek the two available seats on the Hertford County Board of Education. Those seats will be contested during the November 4 General Election.

Incumbents J. Wendell Hall and David L. Shields have both filed to retain their seats.

They will be challenged by four candidates, each seeking his or her first term on the board.

The first challenger to file was Jill Gadsden of Winton who completed paperwork on July 8. A day later, Jennifer Lassiter of Aulander filed to seek a seat on the school board.

Since that time two additional candidates have filed.

On July 15 Robert Warren of Murfreesboro declared his candidacy by filing with the Hertford County Board of Elections.

Marcus Williams, also of Murfreesboro, filed two days later.

Filing for the two seats will continue until 12 noon on Friday, August 1.
