Home Life Care defeats Athlete#8217;s Foot

AHOSKIE – Home Life Care scored in four of five innings to defeat Athlete’s Foot 7-3.

The Little League victory came June 10 in the Ahoskie Recreation Department’s summer league. Home Life Care scored two runs in the first, two in the second and one in the third before adding a pair of insurance runs in the fifth.

Home Life Care was led by Eric Ortiz, who had a homerun and a double, and Woody Lowe, who had a homerun and a single. Evan Lassiter, Thomas Mosely and Aron Holloman each had a double. Thomas Riddick, the winning pitcher, added a single.

Athlete’s Foot was led by A.J. Liverman with two doubles and Ryan Weaver with two singles. Hunter Benton added a double and Dylan Waterfield had a triple.

WOW n 17, Pizza Inn n 2

WOW defeated Pizza Inn 17-2 June 5 thanks to a three strikeout performance from Jarrett Gatling, the winning pitcher. Tyler Jones struck out five while pitching in relief.

WOW was led offensively by Jones, Gatling and Matthew Castelloe with two hits each.

WOW n 7, Rotary n 1

WOW scored at least two runs in three innings to defeat Rotary 7-1 here June 9.

Tory Hawks was the star for WOW, going 3-for-3 with a triple at the plate and picking up the pitching victory. Tyler Jones worked in relief, striking out four.

Schueck Steel n 14, Ellen’s n 3

Schueck Steel scored in every inning to defeat Ellen’s Hair Affair 14-3 in a junior girl’s softball game June 5.

Heather Joyner was the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts.

Offensively, Brittney Evans and Emily Grace led the team. Each had a homerun while Evans added a double. Therese Steward had a triple for Schueck and Joyner and Christen Bryant had doubles.

Golden Skillet n 18, Savin & Hill n 11

Golden Skillet scored 13 runs in the sixth inning to rally from a 7-5 deficit and defeat Savin & Hill 18-11 June 10.

Marvin Harrell was the winning pitcher for Golden Skillet, recording six strikeouts.

Offensively, Miles Harrell led the team with a 3-for-4 performance while Austin Britton was 3-for-5. Neal Brinkley had a perfect 2-for-2 evening. Also recording two hits were Marvin Harrell and Chase Colson.

Savin & Hill was led by Tyler Burden and Mitchell Godwin, each of whom was 3-for-4. Evan Todd registered a 2-for-3 performance at the plate while Petie Boone and Brock Merritt were ach 2-for-4.

Lions n 6, Stoney Creek n 1

A five-run fourth inning was enough to lift Lion’s past Stoney Creek Diner 6-1 in a Senior League game here June 10.

Landon Larabee struck out 10 in the winning effort.

Offensively, Jefferson Kilshimer, Tyler Hoggard, Brandon White and Matt Evans each had a hit for Lions.

Stoney Creek was paced by Bobby Merritt, who was 3-for-3. Quincy Godwin and Ackerman Grace each had a single.

Lions n 9, Athlete’s Foot n 2

Lion’s rolled by Athlete’s Foot 9-2 in a Senior League game June 6.

Clay Barmer had two hits to pace the Lions while Landon Larabee, Jefferson Kilshimer, Tyler Hoggard, Mary Joe Harrell and Malachi Staten were each 1-for-4.
