CONWAY – Two men have been arrested after a federal warrant was served here, according to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO).

On Thursday, Ashonta Bush, 33 of 2128 Jenkins Mill Road near Conway, was taken into custody by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after warrant was served in reference to Hertford County drug charges that were picked up by federal agents.

His brother Jermaine Anthony Bush, 27 of the same address, was taken into custody by NCSO after a search warrant of their residence yielded cocaine and marijuana.

According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Lynette Clements, NCSO was dispatched to assist an FBI agent serving the warrant at the residence.

Clements said when the agent knocked on the door, Jermaine Bush answered with his brother inside the residence.

When NCSO officers arrived, they were informed marijuana had been found inside the home. Upon further inspection of the home and vehicles, more drugs were found.

Deputy Jimmy Collier found seven and one-eighth ounces of cocaine in the residence, while more marijuana was discovered by officers in the vehicles.

Both men were charged with trafficking cocaine and maintaining a place/vehicle/dwelling for a controlled substance. Jermaine Bush was also cited for simple possession of marijuana.

Jermaine Bush was taken to the Northampton County Jail and placed on a $25,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was Monday.

Ashonta Bush is in federal custody.
